| | 10/1/2008 7:02 PM | After two divorces I was rather inclined to finish out as the Lone Ranger. Of course I like to have friends and people are my passion. Having tired of going out to eat alone (I am the microwave king) and seeing movies alone, I decided to date for companionship. Dorothy attends my church and since I play my saxophone at church at least two services on Sunday, I saw her with her daughter and grandsons every week. I walked by her often but she was always occupied and never even noticed me. Finally one Sunday I caught her as she passed by and sort of shaked hands with her, or really reached out and grabbed her left hand and asked her if she dated anyone. She said no very quickly so I knew the answer was going to be negative to my next question. However, I asked her anyway if she would be interested in going to dinner or to a movie with me. To my surprise she said yes that would be nice. I was stunned. That was in Feb 2005 and since we have been constant companions several times each week going to shows, musicals, movies, to dinner, just walking around in malls and other interesting places. We have had more fun than I can remember. She is attractive, funny, more intelligent than I am, spontaneous, generous, kind, articulate, respected by all who know her, and we have a common spiritual bond. After 14 months I finally approached the subject of spending the rest of our lives together in marriage. I became the bumbling, tongue tied, naive boy that I still am. . .but she surprisingly understood and agreed to accept my proposal. Later that evening I began to doubt I had heard her response to be positive so I had to ask her again if I had really made it clear that I wanted her to marry me. . . .and did she really say yes. Of course she did and here we go. We will be married in our Church by our Pastor, Greg Massanari, and will have a reception at the new Red Rock Hotel Casino here in Las Vegas. We will share the evening with many family members, Church Home Group family and Church friends, my Clayton Company co-workers, worship music team members, and many special friends from the past. We will honeymoon at the traditional location Niagra Falls and spend a little time in New York and visit my daughter in Long Island. I am excited and happier than I can remember. |
