Dog Fight Game Explaination and Rules

1.        The MWR program at Heidelberg Golf Club known as the Dog Fight is a modified Stableford point’s game. This game is held on weekends and holidays (Not training holidays). No more than six tee times are reserved for this competition and it may be adjusted down and up based on participation trends. No Dog Fight competition will be held on a day when another tournament or event is scheduled.

2.        All participants will be accepted on a first come first served basis. Your entry into the Dog Fight is secured when you are on site and have paid your entry fee. No places will be held for players who phone in. Entry into the competition is cutoff when the available times are exhausted or the particular tee time has past.

3.        Times not utilized by the competition will be returned to the golf course for utilization by stand-by list players.

4.        The fee to play in the competition is $10.00 plus applicable green fees.

5.        Players who drop out of the competition during the round will forfeit all fees paid. No refunds will be made for drop outs and no subsequent point’s adjustments will be made.

6.        First time players are allowed to go +3 to -3 for their first three rounds in the Dog Fight (sandbagger rule). After the three rounds the player’s points will be adjusted according to their performance. For players with an established handicap, initial points will be established by subtracting their handicap from 36 (example: HDCP is 9: 36 – 9 = 27 points). Players without an established HDCP will project their HDCP and subtract from 36.

7.        Pairings will be completed 15 minutes prior to the first tee time. The first tee time is adjusted as sunrise changes but will be approximately 0830. As the Dog Fight is a player run event; a designated person or player designate will oversee, score and make the pairings.

8.        An accurate player entry log will be turned into the golf course along with the request for gift certificates. The golf course will proceed with the gift certificates only when the competition log is accurate.

9.        Points are determined by the following: Bogey = 1 point, Par = 2 points, Birdie = 4 points, Eagle = 6 points, Hole in one = 10 points, Double eagle = 10 points.

10.     See Dog Fight adjustment table for adjusting player’s points after each round.

11.     Gift Certificate prizes in the Dog Fight will be paid out as outlined in the “Dog Fight Payout Table”.

12.     Unless otherwise stated (As determined by course conditions) summer rules are in effect. You must play the ball down except under extreme conditions when a decision is made to play “Lift, clean and place”.
